LP edition: 180g ~ coloured vinyl. The latest release on their occasional Ace International imprint comprises of pure pop highlights from the career of Annie Philippe, one of France's leading y -y girls. Compiled by resident girl-pop buff Mick Patrick, the collection is available in 24-track CD and 12-track 180g coloured vinyl formats. Both packages feature notes by Jean-Emmanuel Deluxe, author of the recent book Y -Y Girls Of 60s French Pop, who interviewed Annie specifically for this project. Even with the passing of time, I'm still proud of my catalogue, says the lovely Annie. I had great lyricists such as Gilles Thibaut and Jacques Revaux, and arrangers such as Paul Mauriat, Jean-Claude Vannier and Christian Gaubert. Back in those days budgets were not a problem. I even had Bashung, who composed Une Petite Croix with me in mind. I love the Fr d ric Botton song Les Enfants De Finlande . Fr d ric was a really funny and gentle person. It was not a song written for me, but I'm very thankful for getting to sing it. I think a really nice and overlooked song in my repertoire is Bonjour, Bonsoir Et Au Revoir , composed by Le Syst me Crapoutchik, a Beatles-influenced act who were Jacques Dutronc's band. I even had the great drummer Daniel Ceccarelli working with me.
