'Grandpa Jones' soon became a renowned and respected performer of 'old-timey' and traditional songs, his youthful faced lined with stage paint, a handlebar moustache pasted on, his flaxen hair tinted grey and a battered banjo in hand, Flash forward three decades and Grandpa Jones made a unique and quasi-psychedelic sight on the Grand Ole Opry, a real grandpa (made up as a 'fake' grandpa) performing fantastic 'traditional' songs (often written by himself).
