Lovers of leading-edge pop music, rejoice! Circuit des Yeux is back among us. The streamlined nature of last year's "Jackie Lynn" mini-LP was an astonishing evolution - but only Reaching For Indigo can attain the new heights promised by the CdY classics-to-be In Plain Speech and Overdue. Each of her albums has represented its own high-water mark, but Reaching For Indigo raises up ever higher, moving on from the darkly shantying goth-folk of In Plain Speech and the synth-noir of "Jackie Lynn" to consolidate Haley Fohr's sonic obsessions - transformation, rich atmosphere, drama, folk and blues, space, self-hood and the still-shocking (and still growing) revelation of her voice - into an enervating new expression. Two songs have been revealed already - check "Black Fly" and "Paper Bag" - showcasing her bejewelled folk and space-soul-opera modes - but the album as a whole thing is where its at. She'll be turning audiences on all over the place this fall - make sure to stock Circuit des Yeux in your shop, and get ready sock it to 'em!
